Published on Feb 15, 2019
Deadly jig fishing method for catching walleye in shallow water early in the season. Jason Mitchell joins Leech Lake legend, Al Maas on Leech Lake shortly after the opener.

Walleyes can often be located on the shallow sand flats early in the season. These shallow locations often have sporadic short growing weeds scattered along the bottom so long lining small jigs or casting from the boat is the ticket to catching these fish as they spook from the boat. Proper boat speed, types of locations along with jig and minnow selection are all explained in detail. Leech Lake is a very popular and productive fishery in northern Minnesota and this walleye fishing video will detail how to catch fish.
