Trolling Deep Diving Cranks on a short amount of line. A deadly tactic for catching big walleye. Jason Mitchell and Rick Darling showcase the new Salmo Freediver 9 on Devils Lake, North Dakota but this trick catches big fish on a lot of different water.

The advantages of running a deep diving crank bait right behind the boat is that the bait puts off more vibration and offers a bigger profile that keeps small fish off. You are also much more efficient as cleaning slime and weeds off hooks and bills is much faster so you are in the water longer. We also share some of the backstory in the development and testing of the new Salmo Freediver. This crank has one of the best dive curves ever and has an action that just catches big walleye.
