South Dakota Destinations

South Dakota
While traveling to a variety of destinations in an attempt to film some of the most respected outdoor programming on television, we encounter many great people, comfortable motels, resorts and restaurants along with some very kind and interesting anglers. Listed are a handful of wonderful businesses we have utilized on our travels across South Dakota.

The state of South Dakota boasts some of the greatest fishing opportunities in the Midwest. Traveling to this great state to film some of the many fishing opportunities is always a pleasure. The Glacial Lakes Area, along with the Missouri River system including Lake Oahe are favorite destinations for Jason Mitchell Outdoors. From salmon and smallmouth bass to incredible walleye action, we get some of our best footage from this state each season. If you love to ice fish, you will also love the Glacial Lakes Region of this state near Roy Lake Resort.

Pierre Chamber of Commerce
The communities of Pierre and Fort Pierre are strategically located near the massive dam that forms Lake Oahe. From these communities, anglers are a relatively short distance from being able to fish both Lake Sharpe and Lake Oahe while enjoying all of the luxuries and comforts of a capital city. The lower end of Lake Oahe is excellent for walleye and salmon. Lake Sharpe is also a top walleye producer and boasts some of the best smallmouth bass fishing in the state.

Glacial Lakes and Prairies Region
The Glacial Lakes and Prairies region of South Dakota encompasses several prestine natural lakes in North Eastern South Dakota which provide some of the top walleye, smallmouth bass and panfish angling in the region.  Ice anglers find some of the hottest action around for the jumbo perch which made the region famous.  Walleyes are extremely abundant and with a current high water cycle, the lakes are in prime condition.  Waterfowl and pheasant numbers are also staggering and there are several communities that cater to not only hunters and anglers but family recreation.  Other attractions include the Terry Redlin Art Museum and the Corn Palace.
